Virtual reality headsets are too expensive, right? Think again.


Oculus has just announced a new headset aimed at making VR more affordable than ever. It's called Oculus GO, and it houses all hardware into the headset, meaning there are no wires for you to trip over and get brain damage.

That means you can play games and watch VR movies without the need for a PC or smartphone. The days of spending more money than your car to break into VR are now in the past.


The headset is white, unlike its Oculus Rift brother. Functionally, it's quite similar, although some compromises have been made in terms of image quality and audio systems. On the plus side, it's said to be very light, and even more comfortable.

Surprisingly, the device will be sold at $199. Meanwhile, Oculus Rift saw a $100 permanent price drop today, and will be sold for $399 going forward.
