Brazil prison island.

Brazil's Ilha do Presidio, or Prison Island, is an eerie place, an origin of abhorrent stories that have circulated the city of Porto Alegre for generations.

On record, during the past 70 years it's been home to multiple military installations, a virus research labs, and most recently a highly secretive prison where the Brazilian government has taken its most intolerable inmates to be tortured, and in some cases even killed.

With an incredible amount of mystery surrounding the island, one Brazilian development team has seen opportunity for an interesting and insightful video game.

Called Prison Island, in the game you play as a real-world inspired researcher who heads to the island to investigate human rights violations. As the story goes, he went missing and was later found dead in a lake nearby. How that happened is anyone's guess, but you probably have a good idea.

In the game players will be able to uncover the history of the island, learning about atrocities that range from brutal beatings to using insects in inhumane ways.

Inspired by P.T. and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, it's a horror game at heart, but with real-world influences that take it to the next level.
