As part of the SEGA Forever program, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has released on mobile. It's been almost exactly 25 years since the game debuted on the SEGA Genesis, making this a big anniversary for the company.

Apparently the mobile port is almost exactly the same as the original, to a point where it's getting some positive reviews from users and pissing everyone off due to how hard the game is. Yes, playing on a small screen isn't exactly optimal, but it's 100% free and can be played virtually anywhere.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was one of the first games I ever played. To some degree it's a part of why I write about games many years later, but that's for another story. Like many kids of the time, my parents bought it for me as part of a SEGA Genesis bundle from Costco, which can be seen below:

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ended up selling over six million copies on its way to competing against the beastly SNES.

Other SEGA Forever games currently available on mobile include Decap Attack, Crazy Taxi, Beyond Oasis, and Golden Axe, all of which are free.
