62 year-old virgin

I hope the title of this post isn't misleading.  What I mean is that I''ve never blogged before, never engaged in social networking of any kind; in fact, I haven't even seen the movie THE SOCIAL NETWORK.  I did sign up for a Facebook account, which I guess I still have; but I never figured out how to use it or what to do with it.  I'd see stuff there from friends of mine back east, telling the world what they were having for dinner--I couldn't quite see myself bothering with that sort of trivia.

So what am I doing here?  Well, I joined the site because I was interested in the media content: the pictures, the videos (which I can't seem to play, even though I think I have a good enough flash player), whatever.  It seemed liked "eBaum's World" would come up with a lot of my google searches, so I figured I should get on the site and see what it contained.  And now here I am, and since I've been given the opportunity to blog...

I live in Missoula, Montana, if that's of interest to anyone out there.  I moved here eight years ago from Buffalo NY, and it was the best decision I ever made (apologies to my two ex-wives, but they've long since figured out our marriages were questionable ventures, in the long run at least); Montana is just a beautiful place to live, and Missoula is the right size town for me, with college energy and lots of bars and live music....my kind of town.

I write poetry--again, if anyone's interested in that sort of thing.  And maybe at some point I'll put some here on this blog, but not tonight.  I'm also likely to weigh in on politics (I have a "Trout for Obama" sticker on my front door) or religion (raised Catholic, now a devout atheist who remains interested in theology) or economics (any supply-siders out there care to exchange views?)...that sort of stuff.  And I guess I can add some comments about books I'm reading (I'm retired, so I do a lot of
reading)--right now I'm reading THE FORGOTTEN MAN, a revisionist history of the Great
Depression, and apparently a favorite of conservative types. I'm finding it readable, even if I may
question the author's perspective...

And that's it for this entry....
