Animal Cruelty

Animal activist are always working hard to protect animals from cruelty. So I decided to write a little poem for those animals held in captivity. We, as humans, farm animals for food, leathers, furs, medicines, science experiments, whatever use we can come up with. This poem is about the life of those defenseless animals that are so important to us.

The animals are produced by excretion.

We gather them in clusters,

to train them to behave as herds.

We build fences to keep them from escaping.

There are many rules and protocols needed to run a good farm.

The animals catch on quickly,

They soon learn where to go and not to go.

Eventually their day, was just like the day before and the day ahead.

We place them in small stalls,

built precisely for them.

We line it with papers for them to regurgitate,

the food we have given.

The animals need lots of antibiotics and vaccines,

that make them bigger and more productive.

Eventually the animals are ready for commercial use.

Some become beast of burden,

Some are used to make products,

Some go to laboratories to test someone's idea.

Others are bred to make medicines,

And the ones we look forward to the most,

the ones that get slaughtered into hamburger,

in the name of peace.

Well that's it. Hope you liked it? Time to pick up the kids at school.

This poem was not well written on purpose to thinly veil it's true intent.
