I don't know about you, but that is more than I make in a year.
A person who rapes a child "usually" gets life in prison.
By giving someone life in prison you are legally admitting that that person is not suitable to live in society with the rest of us. He or she is a danger to those around them and must be incarcerated for their entire life...no exceptions.
Lets say the rapist is going to live for...I don't know another 40 years while in jail.
That equals out to just shy of 2 MILLION dollars.
Yes. I said MILLION.
And that's for just ONE inmate.
What if we had the death penalty that would be cheaper right?
NO.
The death penalty does not put you right to death after a conviction.
The average death row inmate spends 17.5 years waiting to die.
That equals out to over 850 thousand dollars...and that is not even counting the money spent on the courts, lawyers, and police.
After all is said and done giving someone the death penalty cost way way WAY MORE than giving them life in prison.
Parent's and their children are raised to live in fear of people like this and yet we spend astronomical amounts of money on keeping them alive and healthy.
These monsters live better than some of our law abiding citizens.
It's time we changed things in the state of Rhode Island.
It's time we demand justice.
It's time we make these monsters of humanity live in fear, instead of the families they prey on.
They cannot be saved. They cannot be fixed. They cannot be changed.
YOU DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY RAPE ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wake up today being thankful it has not happened to you and your family, then sit down for ten minutes and write a few letters. Tell your reps, and senators, and congressmen, you DEMAND a change. Tell them you DEMAND instant destruction of those found guilty in child rape cases.
It is not too much.
It is not "over the top".
It is not inhuman.
It is what needs to be done.
No child deserves this...
