Okay..let's look at how insane the point system is. Now, I'm far from top contributor, but I would say that I do a lot more submissions than most. I've come a long way...but let's just look at point system math.

I've been a member for 36 days and I've almost cleared my eNoob status by earning 20,700+ eRep points. I know there are a lot of people that earn far less points than I do, but what I'm averaging is about 575 points a day. let's be REALLY conservative and say if you want to be fairly active (and still have a life) you can snag 500 points a day (as a round number). That makes the whole system much more understandable. Then you can look at it like this:   

eBaum Swag Pack = 100 days
iTunes $50 Gift Card = 5 months
Madden NFL 09 = 6 months
Guitar Hero III = 8 months
$100 American Express Gift Card = 11 months
Nintendo DS Lite = just over 1 year
Sony 8" Portable DVD Player = A year and a half
Bose Speaker System = almost 2 years
Garmin nüvi 360 = 2 years exactly
Apple iPod = just under 2.5 years
Microsoft Xbox 360 = 3 years
SONY PlayStation 3 = 45 months
BOSE Wave Music System = 50 months
Adobe Photoshop CS3 = 5 years
2008 Mountain Bike = 100 months (You'll earn your 2008 mountain bike in 2016)
5 Night Caribbean Cruise = almost 11 years
Samsung 46 inch LCD HDTV = just under 20 years
Bose Home Entertainment System = 33 years
Mac Pro + Display = 60 years

I hope this illustrates why I'm not aiming for ANY prizes, and how I think that anyone that's being that enthusiastic is just insane. I mean, come on...by the time you EARN a PS3, they will have come out with PS4.
