Extremist in religion

I read an article that ran on both FoxNews and MSNBC, http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,573174,00.html and http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33777070/ns/us_news-tragedy_at_fort_hood/ respectfully.  It appears that MAJ Hasan, the Ft. Hood shooter, attended the same mosque when he lived in Virginia.  Anwar al Awlaki, one of the imams from that religious center now lives in Yemen.  Awlaki has posted a message on his website praising Hasan.  Awlaki went on to say:

The posting Monday on the Web site for Anwar al Awlaki, who was a spiritual leader at two mosques where three 9/11 hijackers worshipped, said American Muslims who condemned the attacks on the Texas military base last week are hypocrites who have committed treason against their religion.

And: Anwar said the only way a Muslim can justify serving in the U.S. military is if he intends to "follow in the footsteps of men like Nidal."

I got it.  Ive heard it over and over again.  Not all Muslims and imams are like this.  And that is true.  Just like not all Christians or priests kill abortion doctors or molest little boys.  Yet, people like Awlaki make it hard to believe otherwise. If they really want to show that Islam is a religion of peace, do something about people like this.  Dont freak out and call for the death of a cartoonist for drawing religious figures.  Dont accept people shouting out God is Great before they kill.  And do not praise those who kill in the name of God.
