Funny Duke stories

As you know from my last blog, my 14 year old yellow lab, Duke, is on his way out. As I promised, here are some stories about him.

Before my parents got him when he was 3 months old, he lived in a household that had a female poodle. To make it worse, his name was SNICKERS!!! For the love of God why would you name a male yellow lab Snickers?

When Duke was a puppy, he had a "blanket" for doing "things" with. He was just a little feller and not yet fixed so you can understand what I'm getting at here. One night my parents had company over and he dragged his blanket out of his crate and started going to town. From what I've been told, the company just stared at him with big eyes and mouths wide open. My dad was nearly rolling on the floor in histarical laughter. Meanwhile, my mom was disgusted and yelling at my dad to make him stop. Haha.

When he was a puppy, he got into a bee's nest that he discovered in the dryer vent. They went up his nose and stung him a LOT. It was so bad that he started having breathing problems, started wheexing, had his eyes swollen shut, and threw up. A lot. My mom called the vet and then made my dad go out to the store to get some Benedryl like the vet said. It was BAD.

One time my mom's friends and their grandkids were over at our house. The little boy was 4 and he was hungry and saw my brother eating a Toaster Strudel so he said he wanted one. So my mom fixed him one and he was kneeling in front of the couch eating it. A few minutes later I heard the kid gasp and the dog run off into the dining room. The Toaster Strudel was nowhere in sight and I knew there was no way he had eaten it that fast. Sure enough, I look over into the dining room and there's Duke, munching away. I was trying to stifle my laughter, meanwhile the little guy was on the brink of tears and he said, " The doggie took it!!!"

There are many more funny stories, none of which I can recall right now ( haha) so keep checking back because there are more stories to come. :)
