Recovery

I recently went under the knife again. Hernia this time. I now have a few more scars to add to the collection. I don't mind getting knocked out so much. Actually it is pretty cool but the other side sucks. I would be more than happy to never have to wake up in a recovery room again. Here are a few lessons learned...

If they say fast 12 hours before, listen to them. You should probably even add a few hours. The guy in the next room was blowing chunks after his surgery and sounded like he was going to die. Thankfully, I don't sympathy puke.

Ice chips and Sprite never tasted so good in my life. Burping is good.

When they tell you to get up, do it no matter how much it hurts. Once they remove that IV, at least in my case, there wasn't any more morphine. Any local they gave you will start to wear off too so as time goes on it gets worse. Get up - get home - take your pain pills and get back to sleep.

The 1st piss after the operation seemed like it lasted forever. My wife said I sounded like Austin Powers after he was unfrozen. This made me laugh which brings me to my last thought. Laughing hurts. I have had to close EBW more than once to stop the pain. Many blogs and comments have tested my stitches ability to handle pressure and how effective Vicodin really is. Thanks to all who have been writing and made the last few days much easier than expected.
