There's been an argument about how to interpret some of his work and he's gained many haters (naturally, most geniuses are subject to envy). One thing stays certain - Edward Furlong is the greatest actor that ever lived. His magnificent roles leave an unforgettable impression and there's no other like him. His most recognised portrayals were John Connor, the guy from Pet Semetary II and (yes, yes) best Crow ever played by a human actor.
Terminator 2 - his creation of a boy brought up to save the world from a robot invasion was brilliant for an actor of his age. Furlong plays a boy who is being prepared for a machine take-over. At some point his mother goes to a mental facility and the boy is adopted. When he steals money from an ATM and gets cought by the police, he gets lost in a world of his own, with a cyborg saving him from the hands of the law and getting his mother out of the mental institution. A very sad and touching story, where you don't know which parts are the surrounding world and which are part of the boy's imagination.
Pet Semetary 2 - Edward's second childhood role after the Terminator is also a kid. This time he fights zombies. What people bury at the indian graveyard comes back to life. A deep film concerning the abuse done to Native Americans, their rituals and beliefs. After watching it, you slowly realize that casinos aren't that much of a retribution to these proud people.
Crow: Wicked Prayer - Eddie's playing a goth kid that's not accepted in the college environment. He also dates a Native American girlfriend cause he's non-conformist. It continues the concept of Pet Semetary and there's a clear connection between the two stories. Listening to Bauhaus makes the boy feel invincible and full of hatred, filling him with an urge of vengeance.
All of those movies are masterpieces and all thanks to Edward Furlong. Let's face it. Do you know a better actor? Nobody comes close. What's your favorite Edward Furlong movie? Share it in the comment section
