A while ago, I had a root canal done. Now, before I get started, let me go ahead and tell you that root canals do not deserve the reputation they have. Ever had a filling? That's a root canal right there, pain wise. It just takes longer. I did get a pretty painful infection, but I was in good shape for many days after the root canal.

So, after my root canal I was instructed to call my regular dentist to schedule an appointment for my crown work. I knew this as I had discussed this with my dentist. During our conversation about it, he stressed it was very, very important that my crown work be completed 7-10 days after the root canal. No problem, I'm unemployed and can't find a job to save my life, so yeah, I'm pretty much available anytime.

So I call my dentist office and the old hag receptionist answers the phone. I explain to her that I need an appointment in 7-10 days as I've just had a root canal. Here is the conversation that followed:

Receptionist: With root canals we normally wait about two weeks, so I can get you in on December the 8th.

Me: The 8th? That's 14 days. He said 7-10 and no more.

Her: Yes, 10 days, so two weeks.

Me: No, that's 14 days, not 10.

Her: Yes, two weeks. 10 days is two weeks.

At this point my mind is quite literally boggling at the conversation I am having with this woman. It goes on like this for quite a while. I manage to not call this woman stupid once, but she sticks to her story that 10 days is equal to two weeks.

I finally asked to speak to my dentist to make sure that 14 days is OK. She asks me to hold and comes back and says: "Dr. XXX says that 2 weeks will be fine".

Now at this point, I am done with this woman, who clearly doesn't know the difference between 10 days and two weeks.

Me: OK then, see you in 14 days.

Her: Yes, in two weeks.

Me: Click

Now she fucking gets it.
