"...who the hell does she think she is anyway?  Always in my fucking business... It shouldn't make a difference to her who I date or even who I fuck for that matter...

"Sarah always talked to herself when she was in this kind of mood.  Sometimes, like this one, she would even yell to herself.

"...stupid cunt! ....What?  Because she has the perfect boyfriend, I should be forced to listen to her bullshit rantings about my personal choices in life?"

Her knuckles were white from the death grip she had on her steering wheel... The DJ's continued to drone on about some country concert that happened over the weekend... Sarah couldn't hear them though as she was still cursing at the sister who wasn't there...

"...and why the hell should mom and dad even give a shit anymore?  It's not like they wer

BAM!

The cacophony of sounds was louder than anything she had ever heard.  The exploding glass, rubber shreeking it's protest against the solidity of the pavement, metal folding like tin foil, and plastic pieces of all sizes being broken and twisted all in less than one second.

Tiny explosions, most likely tires, adding to the symphony of decibals.  The car suddenly seemed like a carnival ride, thrashing unexpectedly end over end, coming to a violent stop on it's left side...

..... darkness. ....her eyes closed...

A small tinkling sound awoke her, repeating itself every few seconds, but with no rhythm or tempo.   Her left eye opens slightly, but she strains to do even that much.  She tries to open both eyes simultaneously but her left is the only one to respond.  She catches a glimpse of the tiny pebbles of glass falling at her right side, landing on the pavement in a pile, just inches from her forehead.

Her mind starts clearing up and she starts remembering the moments before she closed her eyes.  The deserted street signs blurring in front of her, the boring DJ's in the background, and her previous anger all seem like a dream she just woke up from.

More pieces of glass take their place just inches from her left eye, now open fully, as she starts to notice the new sounds and smells around her.  A slight hissing sound is constant from somewhere in front of her.  An unknown smell, faintly sweet, remindes her of a time when her car overheated and her dad had to come resue her. She smiles at that memory...

She sees a reflection of light from an unknown source flashing just out of her peripheral vision... it's yellow, and from the angle at which it originates, she is sure it's not from anything on her car, and she wonders where it may live... as the DJ's continue their banter...

She feels a slight burning on her forehead, and she can see that a puddle of green fluid has started building up in the same spot as the pile of glass-rubbled on the pavement right next/below her.   Her first instinct is to jump away from the burn, to move away from the threat, and it is then that she makes a startling discovery...She can't move at all.

Aside from blinking her left eye, she is powerless against the burning fluid, that while only in a small amount, is starting to creep further around her face, which has now settled further onto the glass-littered concrete.  She starts to panic, internally, very close to giving herself a panic attack. Her respirations increase drastically as she starts to realize the true danger she is in.

Suddenly she hears a crackling, not like that of a fire, but instead like footsteps, but more crunching like. Then she is relieved to discover that she hears someone walking toward her car, stepping on glass and other debris as they make their way hurriedly toward where her windshield used to be.

She starts to get excited, and wants to cry for help when she realizes that she can't speak. She can't yell for help, or warn the person of her injuries, but atleast they are here and she is not alone.

That surprises her at this point, as she was on some pretty unused streets that she usually takes home due to their abandoned sidewalks and lack of traffic.  What are the chances that someone else would have happened by at this hour, right after she wrecked?   Maybe she was knocked out longer than the few seconds she imagined and the police and ambulance were arriving now.   Amazing, and she is very thankful, until she saw the boots...

These were not the boots of a rescue worker, or even a police officer, or anyone else who might help her for that matter... she knew these boots... oh god did she know these boots... She misses her sister now, no matter how much they fought, and she misses her mom, regardless of her prying.   She thinks of her dad, and how much he loved her, and how many times he came running to help her, but not this time.   She thinks about the last words she had with each of them in the after-heat of a very stupid argument.   What was it even about now? She can't recall the topic, just the love she now feels for those she knows she will never see again...

The boots are here now... very close... "oh god no...." she thinks

All at once she realized what must have happened, and she screams internally as the face appeared in front of her...

She closes her eye, tries to yell and fight and punch and scream, feels the hand coming in and grabbing her, squeezing, shaking, then....

Silence.   She can't hear the DJ's anymore. She wishes she could.......
