Today is an epic day for me as a big sister. My favorite and only 12 year old sis' is going to her very first concert. Being such a huge music fan and all Im just so proud and teary eyed just as if she was going on her first date!

Shes going to see a singer named Marie-mai. She some kind of french canadian avril lavigne singer, songwriter. She also plays the guitar and funny thing is: she from the same hometown as us, Boucherville. Its a mid-upper-class suburb 15 minutes south of Montreal. My sister was singing and dancing around from the time she could stand up on her 2 feet and that singer is her idol because she feels that if a girl from her town can make it, so can she. Shes also very pretty... people compare me to her all the time... AHAHAHAHAHAHAH ;) Unfortunately, shes a product of Star Academie wich is like american idol and thats not something i like to endorse. However, Id rather have my baby sister listening to Marie-Mai, Avril Lavigne or Fallout Boy than Britney Spears or lil kim for example.

I remember my first show, it was a band called grimskunk and they played punk-rock-ska-metal-reggea music in english, french, spanish, russian and arab. Theyre bass player was a leader in the decriminalization of medicinal marijuana and the group even founded their own record label at some point. I got to see them 3 more times after that before they broke up a few years ago. I will never forget how proud i was to smoke weed with one of the bandmates and how hard I fell on my ass first time I hit the moshpit! Luckily enough, some nice dudes picked me up the floor before i got stomped all over. At the end of that evening i was necking with a guy i met during the show who told me he was 17 (i was 16) and the next day my friends told me: Hes not 17! hes (some girl I cant remember the name of) cousin and hes turing 14 next week!! I was so ashamed! Now I dont drink at all when i go to shows and I remember more stuff.
