There's this one hallway in my apartment that for some reason, has always given me the creeps.  I don't know exactly what it is, but for some reason I was just never able to stand in the hallway for very long without being overwhelmed with the feeling of panic.  It just feels like I just desperately need to get out of there, because someone's either chasing me, or about to..  I never told my boyfriend about this, thinking he would call me crazy.  I always just kinda thought it was weird, and went about my day. 

Also, at night I hear a lot of running behind the wall that my bed is up against.  Normal footsteps... just really fast.   There's another apartment behind that wall... but who runs around in their tiny apartment every night around 2-3 am?   Along with those sounds, I hear other creeks and bumps in my apartment - especially the hallway... (that's just outside my bedroom). It's so bad, I always have my fan on full blast to try and drown out the noises that keep me up otherwise.

There was one particular incident, that REALLY creeped me out.  A few months ago me and my bf had gone to bed.  He usually passes out as soon as his head hits the pillow, and this night was no exception.  Just as I was about to fall asleep I heard my front door (also apart of that hallway) open and close.  The door sticks, and is usually locked every night, so this really creeped me out.  I was too afraid to investigate, so I just glared at the doorway of my bedroom leading out to the hallway, until I figured that there was nothing there, and that it was probably just the cats banging smacking at something up against the front door.  Not long after my bf started tossing, turning, and moaning in his sleep.  He looked like he was in distress so I woke him up.  The first thing he said was "Thank you" ... this caught me completely off guard.  He went on to say "I was just having a dream where some guy broke into the apartment and started stabbing you... I was laying right here but I was paralyzed and couldn't do anything but watch....that's weird... I don't usually have nightmares... well ones that I remember anyway.... how did you know to wake me up?"    Needless to say, I didn't sleep that night.

That was the last thing to happen, besides the weird hallway feelings and weird noises at night... until recently.   It seems like things are getting weirder and weirder lately....

Late last week I was vacuuming up my apartment while my bf was at work.  My cats are terrified of the vacuum and always run and hide under the bed as soon as I drag it out of the closet.  I moved some furniture around so I could get under it, and moved my kitchen set into the hallway to get it out of the way as well.  I started vacuuming my kitchen floor (i dont have a broom) when suddenly I heard a huge bang!  Sure enough it came from the hallway, I go to look and there's two dining chairs laying on their side. One looked like it was pushed in one direction, while the other was pushed from the other side. No sign of the cats.... as I had the vacuum out for a good 10 - 15 mins before that... and they usually don't come out until some time after I put it away.  Something pushed those chairs over... and I do believe it's a spirit or something that is really over protective of that hallway.   I once heard that spirit activity often picks up when changes are made to the look of a particular space that they haunt.  People live in what seem to be peace... (i just saw something in that hallway out the corner of my eye just as I am writing this...... well anway!) peaceful old homes, they renovate, and then all of a sudden the walls are bleeding and someones telling them to kill their family. I didn't tell my boyfriend about this, because he'd surely just tell me it was the cats climbing all over them... (they weren't... but I doubt I would have been able to convince him of that).    This isn't the first time something like this happened here either.  Every now and then I'll put something a certain way, only to come back to it, and it's not the way I left it... and usually it's only a few minutes after... and that's how I notice the difference.

Recently my cats have been acting pretty weird too.  Monday morning I got up to feed the cats.  Every now and then I give them canned cat food as a treat... usually they go ape shit for it as soon as they hear the cat food cupboard open.  This time they didn't come running.  I walk out of the kitchen to see where they all are, and to call them, and two of them were staring down the hallway.  I called their names, and they didn't even flinch.  They wouldn't acknowledge me for a good minute at least...   They just kept staring down the hallway, at what seemed to be nothing.  Like it was planned out or something, suddenly both of them stopped staring and started acting normal again... going ape shit for food... like expected.  It was really weird.

Last night, my bf and I were playing poker together in the living room.  All of a sudden my boyfriend went pale, and a blank stare swept across his face as if he just shit himself unexpectedly.  He asks me "did you hear that?"  ... I didn't so of course I said "No... what?"

he replies "I swear I just heard a kid say 'mom?' twice..."  I answer "You sure it wasn't one of the cats meowing?  They make some pretty weird noises sometimes" 

"No no.... the cats are in here, and what I heard came from down there" as he points down the hallway.   He goes on to say "You know.... this place is haunted.  A lot of people died in this building.... my parents told me about a fire that happened here when I was a kid (his parents grew up here in this town, and raised their family here as well) a couple people couldn't get out and died... and then a year before I moved in a prostitute was murdered in the apartment right behind ours."  The apartment behind ours is the one behind the wall where I always hear that running at night... that wall dividing the two apartments is also at the very end of that hallway.

You know... with all of this piling up without explanation, I'm really starting to think there's a ghost in this building... or at least that hallway.  I have a psychic friend who's traveled all over this world conducting ghost hunts, and was even on the show Creepy Canada.   I think I'm going to email her today for some advice.  She'll be able to tell me how to find out whether or not my apartment is haunted, and maybe even by who.  I want to look into this... maybe set up a web cam, or voice recorder and see if I can pick anything unusual up... I won't without her guidance....  but if I do, and find something I'll be sure to upload it here....

Am I going crazy... or do you think this might be legit?  I have always considered myself agnostic... so I'm a little confused right now to say the least.
