One Lump or Two

Aspartame and it's safety is in the least a controversial sweetener. I'm not here to talk about the suspicious political approval methods or the earlier test results that revealed aspartame was dangerous. I just want to point out how it is currently manufactured and read your comments about it.

There are a few different ways Aspartame is made but the most efficient, least expensive and most popular method is as follows. This method is actually considered an art and the people who do it are specialist at it.

E-Coli the bacteria found in feces is genetically modified. It is then grown in vats that contain a medium, (food), for its growth. As the bacteria multiply they eat the food and its excrement is excreted. This excretion is then dried and crystallized. This powder is then added to your food to sweeten it. It is found in over 6000 products in the North American diet.

I know cheese, yogurt, and sour cream need bacteria to  be made, and have been used for thousands of years for food, but these are naturally occurring.

Something about using bacteria from shit, to then use that genetically modified bacteria to then shit on your corn flakes and sweeten your drinks, just seems like a bad idea. What do you think?

Side note: The City of Quebec has now banned flouride from it's water supply, following most of Europes lead in classifying it a poison.
