Human Trafficking in Hamilton, Ohio

This happened a few days ago across the street from my friends house!

Channel 9 News Cincinnati Article:

HAMILTON, Ohio - The man accused of holding a woman against her will and raping her repeatedly for 10 days pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity Friday. Judge Noah Powers heard the plea Friday morning in a Butler County courtroom and issued Manis a $1 million bond.

Hamilton police were called to a home on Campbell Avenue on Friday, Nov. 26.

A 22-year-old woman at the residence told police 44-year-old William Hobert Manis struck her in the face several times while she was at his home on Nov. 16. The woman told police that Manis bound her hands, feet and mouth and raped her 18 times over the course of a 10-day period. She freed herself by jumping out of the home's second-story window, according to police.

Manis was arrested hours after the report was made and charged with 18 counts of rape and one count of kidnapping. He remains behind bars at the Butler County Jail.

Manis will return to court on Jan. 7.

Some things that weren't mentioned in the story is that the man has been involved with Human Trafficking for years. They found an Aryan Nation uniform and two big plastic tubs of Aryan Nation items. There is not a law in Ohio and several other states stating that human trafficking is NOT illegal. But, since the incident, the State voted 32-0 to pass a law in Ohio to make Human Trafficking through the state of Ohio, illegal. It's sad to think that it took something like this to make a law so easily, pass.
