File *Hoarding

Does anybody else do this? I try to keep my computer very organized. I have folders for every thing that I tend to want to keep for later. I see a picture I like, I save it. I see a website I like but don't have the time to read, I save it.

I am in no way affiliated with StumbleUpon.com but it's the best thing ever. It's a browser plugin that has a button that you click and it takes you to a webpage from a catagory that you have checked as something you might be interested it.

So, while you and other people surf the internet, if anybody stumbles upon something really neat, you or they submit it to stumble to share with others. If it's something that's already been stumbled, and you like it, all you have to do is click the I LIke It button. There's also a thumbs down button.

I have been clicking this thing almost nonstop for hours. And some of the stuff would take a while for me to get the full benefit of landing on the page so I have to save it to a folder for later. I have so many things saved at this point that I could lose my internet connection and transportation to the library for years and I wouldn't notice. My only fear is that my attention span may be whittling away.

Here's a list subfolders in my research folder...

- Activism (mostly atheism stuff).

- Actuary. (I lost interest in this one. I'l probably delete it soon.)

- Adventure (mostly hiking, kayaking, travel, etc.)

- Anger Management.

- Art and Expression.

- Blogs and Journals.

- Brainwave Entrainment.

- Career Planning (also resume tips and stuff like that).

- Computer Stuff (neat tricks and shortcuts).

- Cooking (mostly recipes).

- Creativity and Decision Making (mostly techniques). I'll probably split this folder into two soon.

- Diet.

- Drawing.

- Driving (CDL stuff).

- Economics and Politics. I'll probably split this one soon.

- Excel Workbooks. Subfolders are A.J.'s, Bible, Downloaded, Finance, Goals, Math, Memory, Other, Q and A, and TV (channel lineups and stuff for recording with Media Center).

- Fatherhood.

- Fitness. Subfolders are Agility, Cardio, Dance, Flexibility, Longevity and Disease Prevention, Skills, Sleep, Strength, and Swimming.

- Funny.

- Habits (mostly GTD, habit changing techniques, and suggestions for positive changes).

- Homeschooling. I'll probably delete this one soon.

- Homesteading. Subfolders are Agriculture, Energy, Home, Knots, Lifestyle, and Meat.

- Inventing.

- Leadership.

- Learning and Memory (I've been developing a monumental memory system).

- Leizure.

- Life Philosophy. This one has mostly summarized text files like Bliss, Compassion, Contribution, Experience, Forgiveness and Resilience, Friendliness, Gratitude, Humor, Life Strategic Plan, Love, Meditation, Peace, Quotations, and Success. I'm hoping to get this one condensed as much as possible by the end of this year.

- Math.

- Meditation.

- Money and Saving.

- Motivation.

- Music.

- Negotiating.

- Obligations.

- Photoshop (tips).

- Relationships. This folder has a huge collection of files. I don't even know where to begin but it will take a while to get through. It's hard trying to figure out what should go into this folder or the negotiating folder or the leadership folder. Dealing with people can be complicated I guess, if you really want to be good at it.

- School (mostly saved pages from colleges and F.A.F.S.A.).

- Science (neat science things I come across and groundbreaking research). I sometimes have innovative ideas for inventions from reading about new research.

- Speed Reading.

- Supermemo Stuff. Supermemo is a flashcard program that uses spaced repitition. The guy who developed it is a learning genius. My memory system will use the same basic principles except that you will not need a computer to do it. Everything you will need will always be in your head as long as you're willing ot put in the work and keep up with the investment.
