Rev. Billy Squillermeir

For those of you who don't know about my Rev. Billy Squillermeir character, here is some information.

Some years back, I decided to create a project for my not-for-profit site, Space Eagle Productions, to expose phony radio and TV preachers.  I've made several videos with this character to try to get people to see how silly they are for listening to these radio and TV charlatans.  This was my first.

Yes, it was rough around the edges, but I did a little better on the next one.

I made one to show the attitude of the Christian Right toward the election of President Obama.

And this is my latest.

You see, these phony radio and TV preachers are in it for the money.  They don't really care about you or what shape they leave you in when you donate your time, your money, and your property.  All they care about is how much money they can make for their "ministry" and how big a mansion they can afford here on earth.  They give real preachers who are honestly trying to do as Jesus taught a bad name.

Some preachers will tell you not to read anything but the bible and some take it a step further and tell you not to listen to try to interpret the bible on your own.  They want to be your only connection to God so that they will be the only one with a connection to your bank account.  They don't want you to read an intelligible translation because they don't want you to find out the truth about Jesus and what he taught.  If you found that out, it might hurt their corporate sponsors.

If you read the bible and understand that not everything is literal, that there are metaphors, allusion, and other literary metaphors in the bible, you will see the real message of Christ.  He summed it up pretty succinctly here.

Matthew 22:36-40 (New International Version)

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?

Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.[a]  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.[b]  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
