Grow Your Own!
I was browsing the site for the Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute and found an article entitled "Help Farmers Grow Your Food-Fuel-Medicine." It addresses, among other things, using cannabis to make biofuel.
The problem is stated very simply on the site.
"If you have not noticed that your food bill has gone up about 10% in the last 3 months then you are not paying attention. There will be no COLA to cover this because the government still reports near zilch for inflation while they debase the dollar to cover the bankers.
The same economic policies that make it harder for you to buy food also makes it harder for farmers to even grow food in the first place. When you get hungry and cannot find any food at any price, then you have waited too long to act."
Pro-corporate legislation has made it more difficult for the non-corporate farmer to produce food and other crops that supply other necessities... clothing and some medications, for instance. All this is being done in the name of profit with little or no regard for the needs of the people.
As more and more people are laid off, more and more people's salaries are being reduced, more and more people are losing their houses, a growing number of people are realizing that their needs and interests have been left behind. More and more people are asking, "What happened to those jobs that the tax cuts for the rich were supposed to bring about?" Face it. Trickle down economics does little for the average person.
I have a friend who's running for office as a precinct chair. He has been working in close association with Ron Paul. He is very interested in biofuel technology and has been producing it for his "flex fuel" vehicle for a couple years now. I sent him a link to the article on Willienelsonpri.com to see what he thinks. He evidently hadn't heard of it. I have a feeling he's going to like it, though.
There has been a lot of talk about a ticket with Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich running together. Here is one of the videos from YouTube.
I don't know which ticket they would run on, but I think it would be very good for America if these two got together and were elected to office. It would help end the division between Americans and restore the freedoms and liberties which made America a place to be proud of. It would help end senseless wars and help us regain credibility with foreign governments.
Paul and Kucinich are against government interference in our personal lives. Think what it would be like to have the freedom to live as you see fit, not be told what to believe, and be allowed to make your own personal choices. Imagine being able to toke responsibly without the fear of being incarcerated. Imagine the reduction in the size of the prison population and the cost to the taxpayers for housing minor marijuana offenders. Imagine getting rid of legislation that would practically put a camera in your bedroom to be sure you're only doing it in the missionary position.
Come on America. Isn't it time for a little common sense?
Here's a little reggae for you.
