Don't ride the tired wave...
As is to be expected, talk of Asian horror inevitably results in the same few titles being heralded as the epitome of their horror genre, and others. This is pretty sad, when so many great examples exist out there no one will mention, as they've never heard of them.
I've stated before many are ripped off by America and blasphemized by Hollywood into horrible remakes, which is actually what started this whole thing. Seriously, again, it's not my prob if a weabo didn't know this and needs to create a blog as a means to justify that, even if they've had my own moron award since I've first encountered them. And again, proof is never proof cuz one decides it is - something like this would be:

Honogurai mizu no soko kara - remade into Dark Water
kairo - remade into American version of Pulse
Jian Gui -remade into American version of The Eye

...for a start.
Americans are not patient," musician and "House of 1000 Corpses" director Rob Zombie said. "You've gotta kill someone in the first five seconds or the kid's gonna go see '50 First Dates' on the next screen over. But Asian films, they let it go. It seems like nothing happens for an hour, and then the payoff is so insane that people are freaking out."
The reason is simple. Hollywood remake asian movies because a lot of people discover asians movies by the recent wave. Their is an interest about these movies but North American people (minus those who really like asian cinema) dont like to watch foreing movies because they dont understand them in the proper way wich is different due to the difference of cultures. So, because they know that these movies made money in their won countries, they remake them to make money in North America. Thats my opinion.
Actually, that's pretty much the truth. It takes something entirely different to produce a true horror which utilizes more innovation, originality, and brainpower than the redundancies of western scare cinema. Even with the rights to churn out a remake of a decent eastern horror film, the opportunity showcases itself as wasted, time and time again, and is equivalent to stealing a punchline and remolding the joke around it (The Uninvited is a great case in point) - it isn't gonna be funny if you do, so it's best to leave it alone. Naturally, it hasn't been, for the sake of a bit of box office buck. A poor homage, as well as a poor grasp on what it means to make a film, and grab people with it.
These were just a few examples. Really, you could go anywhere to research any of this, as well as the horrid outrage at legendary directors and writers having their masterpieces butchered by westerners. But why stick to the aforementioned "wave" when so many awesome titles are out there? In the age of the internet, it's too easy to go through the literally hundreds of titles that await you. Never go by Hollywood, and never take the tired bullshit you hear from someone who doesn't know culture from their asshole as gospel.
