Recently found out that the only water company servicing our area is piping lake water to all the houses.

Unfiltered, unchlorinated lake water.

And they also decided not to say anything about it until somebody complained or got sick.  I hope it was the former.  I hope the makers of Brita and Pur are paying the company enough in kickbacks to cover the law suits the first time a fish hook comes out of someone's tap while they're drawing a bath.  Actually, I hope it has to come right out of the CEO's children's private school tuition.
