The Strangest Sound I've Ever Heard

I'm new to the blog section but I experienced something the other night that I feel I have to share. I'm not one to make up stories, exaggerate the truth or agree for the sake of fitting in; so this is not made up.

I grew up on military bases all my life and I know the difference between the sound of a helicopter, a large freight or carrier plane, and jets. Each aircraft sounds distinctly different than the other, there is no mistaking the sound of a Herc for an F-16 or vice-versa.

Anyways, the other night, Friday, September the 23rd I went outside at around 11:45. This is the night that the 6 tonne decommissioned satellite was to enter Earth's atmosphere. So, I was standing outside for about 3 minutes when I suddenly heard this huge roaring and rumbling. When I say roar, I'm not referring to an animal roar, I'm referring to a roar like an enormous engine or wind or even a tornado. This sound was coming from the sky, but it wasn't travelling in any direction in particular. I am having a hard time explaining the sound but, it sounded like it was the entire sky. The sound got louder and louder just like an aircraft that may have been accelerating to to get ready for take off. It was so loud I couldn't hear myself speak. I walked to the end of my driveway, looked up and around and I saw nothing. There was no movement from any object in the sky. As the noise grew louder I began to feel it. And as quick as the sound materialized, it was gone. But not only did it disappear, it sounded similar to a plane taking off, as though the jets were kicking in and it reached maximum speed.

The reason I say it was unlike an average military aircraft is because the sound lasted for 3 minutes and during those first 2 minutes, it sounded like you were standing next to a Hercules; these are very very loud planes. Near the end of those 3 minutes, it sounded like an F-16 or F-18 was flying over my house. When fighter jets fly overheard you hear it for 20 seconds at the most, and when a carrier plane such as a Hercules flies overhead, it sounds extremely loud only if it is flying very low. Feel free to google these if my explanation is not sufficient.

Anyways, to sum it up, the sound scared the living shit out of me because I have never heard anything like this before. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and I got weird "vibes". I came inside, checked the status of the falling satellite and it had not yet entered our atmosphere. And just to make it clear, I don't live anywhere near an airport. So I looked on youtube for similar sounds and I found a couple. Here are some that sound similar, but not exactly the same:

What do you guys think? Have you experienced anything like this before?
