Changes on Ebaumsworld
I would like to express my delight about the improvements implemented on your website. First of all, replacing the 'highest rated' section with 'popular' was a brilliant idea. Instead of getting random media that got straight 5 star votings which disappeared after it received anything less than 5, now there is a new algorithm that governs uploads from the last 4 weeks, based on factors like view count, rating and the number of votes.
It's especially great for the gallery section - you get AWESOMORAMA (why isn't this a weekly feature?), AWESOMUS RANDOMUS MAXIMUS, and a bunch of funny pic galleries, page after page.
The popular clips are often the kind that never makes it to the main page - weird, extremely stupid, sexy or surprising. The tendency in the main page media is to feature viral clips for the most part. That is why the popular videos are unique and sometimes much more interesting than another faceplant or cat clip. The great deal about this feature is that it gathers clips from the last 4 weeks and you can go page after page to view which clips are the most liked by other users.
The next improvement I want to point out and thank for is the clip ranking based on views. I tend to miss some clips and the most viral videos are listed there, divided into most viewed this day, week and month. Sometimes a clip I wouldn't normally open gets there and it's usually surprisingly funny.
The third improvement is the random featured video button, or the RANDOMIZER. It's fun to browse through clips featured in the past. The resolution/quality of videos posted changed remarkably.
The team that's working on the website's layout did a great job. I'm sure I'm not the only user who noticed that.
