Threadmills?

Shylilazn brought up an interesting way to help the horizontally challenged loose excess pounds. She suggested placing a threadmill in your basement . So what exactly is a threadmill? At first I thought it must be something that produces thread as in clothing. Then I thought maybe a machine that you use to make threads on a pipe or steel rod. But how can these help you loose weight?  And why in your basement? Wouldn't a commercial setting be more appropriate?

Being the curious sort and of course fascinated with anything Shylilazn recommends I Googled threadmill and this is what I came up with. I still do not know  how it will work for shedding pounds, but if Shililazn, formerly known as Neko recommends it, I'm sure it works.

THREADMILL is a new Marie Curie Research Training Network (RTN) devoted to cross-disciplinary training and research at the interface between Supramolecular Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Physics, and Nanoscience.

The overall goal is the generation of new knowledge underpinning the exploitation of supramolecular wires (namely conjugated polyrotaxanes) in the fabrication and investigation of prototypical systems, both at the level of single-molecule devices, and of large-area polymer applications (LEDs, PVDs, ultrafast photonic switches).
