Take Responsibility for your Actions
After reading Dangle's blogs and the resulting comments, I feel the need to voice my opinion as well. I'll cut right to the chase. Abortion is wrong. Allow me to expound:
This isn't about women's rights; this is about the sanctity of Human Life. Sperm alone is not life. An egg alone is not life. But when you put the two together, it IS life, and that's why it's called CONCEPTION.
I disagree with a woman's right to choose. What I do agree with is a woman taking responsibility for her actions. Now before the lynch mob starts chasing me with pitchforks and torches, yes, I know men must take responsibility too. Unfortunately, the men aren't the ones who have to be pregnant, and sometimes they want nothing to do with the pregnancy. Sorry, but there's nothing that can be done to change the fact that ultimately it is the woman who bears the brunt of the unwanted pregnancy, and sometimes the father skips town. Personally, I think a father who hides from his parental responsibilities is piece of shit.
But because of deadbeat dads, there are organizations that will assist single moms in locating putative fathers and holding them accountable. It costs the single mom absolutely nothing. There are countless organizations that assist single moms in other ways too: free food, free child care, free counseling and even free money. Support groups exist for the sole purpose of helping single moms with everything from financial assistance to job placement.
Facing an unwanted pregnancy? Put the baby up for adoption. Do you have any idea how many childless couples there are who want children? You will not spend one cent on ANYTHING. All your medical expenses for the duration of the pregnancy will be covered by the family that wants the baby. They'll even give you maternity clothes. They'll even replace your salary if you miss any work. With so many options out there for a single woman facing an unwanted pregnancy, abortion is truly the worst act of selfishness anyone can commit. It's the easy way out, but not the right way out. Conversely, putting a child up for adoption is one of the greatest gifts in the world. Ever heard of choosing the difficult right over the easy wrong? People who do that have character. It's called taking responsibility for your actions.
If a man and a woman have unprotected sex and then abort the child, it's the epitome of selfishness and laziness. If the putative father skips town, the woman cannot simply say "I'm not doing this alone." Two wrongs don't make a right. It's unfair for the woman, but life is full of injustices. Just remember, she decided to have sex knowing she would be the one carrying the baby.
If you tell me "it's my body and I'll decide what to do," I will say this: No, it's not your body. It's you and your baby's body now, because of your decision to have sex. If you say "it's my life and I'll decide what to do," I will say this: No, it your baby's life because you decided to have sex.
If you are not prepared to take responsibility for your actions, DON'T HAVE SEX. It's that simple. Women, keep your legs closed. Men, keep your dick in your pants. But if you ARE prepared to take responsibility for your actions, well then, by all means, get to it and have fun.
