To Be or Not To Be. How About Being Yourself?

It's difficult just being ones self in a world full of over stated and unduly admired individuals such as people like Justin Beiber or Kim Kardashian. Not that I think they are not admirable, I really don't know, but I've never seen or heard anything that deserves such attention. It's all a freak show to me. Still they are incredibly successful beyond what is reasonable and most of us are about as desirable as pond scum on the grand scale of things.

As a result, I often see, read or hear of people pretending to be those things that they are not. What is a transvestite who not only cross dresses but takes pills to enhance their feminine side then goes to outrageous parties to parade around like a peacock on coke? Someone who is seriously looking for attention while being something they definitely are not. It's extreme attention whoring of a person who just wants to let it all hang out, while holding it in, so to speak. And you know what? It really doesn't bother me as the person is just having fun, like people at a Halloween party, except for the transvestite it's a costume they never want to return, because their real self is either too boring, ignored and unfulfilled.

Of course, being something you are not can have embarrassing, disappointing and even highly detrimental results. All that one thinks they gain by playing such games actually results in net losses many fold what ever gain they perceived possible. This human attribute is extremely common and I too am guilty of it, but when it gets so sickenly obvious by people I  like, well my heart aches. Not because I am disappointed with them, but because they are disappointed with themselves.

I'm not going to point out obvious signs of such behaviour, I do not want to embarrass anyone, but I do wish to convey the following message. You're all right, I'm all right. Nuff said!
