Fallout Versus Today's Technology

Even though the stories used in the Fallout series are for the most part an invention of the 1950s, when people have fantasised about a war with Russia and USA that resulted in a nuclear disaster, you can clearly see that most of the futuristic ideas still look bad ass. The "high tech devices" and a world where humans survive the catastrophe hiding in underground vaults might sound funny, especially when an iPhone has better specs than the super computers imagined by scientists even a few decades ago. But wouldn't you like to experience some of these cool aspects of a dystopian world?

1. The Vaults

Does this look rad or not? It might sound awesome to be one of the survivors and live in a vault filled with supplies, but what's so cool about a desolate bunker filled with ass holes you need to endure every day and eating nutrition pills for dinner? Look at this geek:

Imagine him being your room mate. The living space in a vault is limited, you know.

2. The Pip Boy

Fallout's most recognised accessory looks ridiculous. What is this, a green and black screen? And where's the 5 Megapixel camera? At least it has a GPS, but couldn't they build smaller ones? Or give you a tablet?

3. The army

That's right, friend. If you're cool enough you're gonna get one of those shiny metal armors and a gun. You can go out of the base and shoot mutants. That's fun! Or you could be one of the technical assistance. They have... um... cool uniforms, too. Yep, the battle armors still look bad ass.

4. Weapons

Speaking of shooting things, here's a cool concept of what a super soaker... I mean a disintegrating laser would probably look like in year 2040.

5. Augments and mutants

Since there's gonna be a bunch of freaks roaming the earth, you have to be prepared to face them. What's more baller than stuffing a human organism with a lot of bionic enhancements?

Wouldn't you like to see in the dark? Or jump higher than an NBA player? Or run as fast as Michelle Jenneke? Despite getting a lot of these as default life enhancers, Fallout teaches you that when it comes for bionic augments, the illegal ones are the most bad ass.

The 3rd World War scenario didn't take place, but you can spot a lot of the gadgets currently available to buy are either better or close to the ones imagined to be the technology of the future in the Sci-Fi books. The touch screen beats the idea of a pip boy. The giant computers taking up half a room look silly in comparison to today's flat screen monitors and if you follow the news about firearms, you have probably already noticed that flashy lasers aren't the way to go in the evolution of weapons.

As for the mutants...
