82 Year Old Nun Breaks into Weapons Grade Nuclear Facility

An 82 year old nun broke into the USA's only weapons grade storage and processing plant. Sadly and laughingly this has drawn concern by those who are in charge of such facilities. Do ya think? Now she faces some legal battles, but as far as I'm concerned she should be considered a hero or at least an asset by making it obvious the nuclear site is not properly protected. Catholics Rock!!

An 82-year-old nun and two other nuclear activists break-in into the US only site for weapons-grade uranium storage and processing back in July has set the countrys nuclear security officials ill at ease.

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has written to the site, B&W Y-12, located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, citing "grave concerns" following the July 28 incident, Reuters reported on Sunday.

During the incident, the nun, identified as Megan Rice, and the activists broke through perimeter fences to reach the outer wall of a building where enriched uranium was stored, prompting temporary closure of the site.

Upon the NNSA recommendation, the sites managing contractor has said it will quit working with WSI Oak Ridge, a unit of international security firm G4S.

The NNSA, an agency of the Department of Energys, said on Saturday that Energy Secretary Steven Chu had referred to the incident as an important "wake-up call" for the entire nuclear complex.

"The security of our nation's nuclear material is the Department's most important responsibility, and we have no tolerance for federal or contractor personnel who cannot or will not do their jobs," said NNSA spokesman Joshua McConaha.

Rice, a Roman Catholic nun and activist against nuclear arms, is awaiting an October trial after the breach.
