when did it happen?
          that we cease to look ahead
     culture regresses
and we look backward instead

                   styles of clothes
           straight outta the '50's
      conservative fashion
looks awfully shitty

                   I guess it reflects
           the current scheme
      no futuristic vision
just a recurring dream

                    polyester
             and corduroy
       prior standards
come back, oh boy!!!

                   what's the logic?
            why the regression?
      they don't want to study
to learn history's lesson

                    the mirror is clearer
             when glancing at reflection,
       sidestep the why
avoid misdirection

                     cuz that direction
             is heading towards previous
       mottos and mantras
that really are devious

                       I find it ironic
            that as we regress
    technology continues
despite how we compress

                         distant ideas
               grow even more distant
        our tools are more modern
but our minds? more resistant

                           we stopped marching forward
                    and now we're backsteppin'
         if place and time is a battlefield
we've just lost our weapon
