Think back to a time when soldiers lined up in rows and took turns shooting at each other so they could win a war.  During the revolutionary war, this was how the British army was accustomed to fighting.  But, the American revolutionaries came up with something different.  They hid in the trees, they wore clothes that matched the enviornment, they used guerilla tactics and hit and run attacks on the British army.  Now, you may be thinking to yourself "hey, doesn't our modern military use these techniques?" well yes nowadays this is common practice. But in 1776, these strategies were seen as barbaric, cowardly, and outrageous.  Does this ring a bell?  Well it should because in todays "war on terrorism" Islamic extremists are using methods to fight us that most of us see as "cowardly" and "inhumane"  But we fail to see that now we can draw comparisons between us and Great Britain, and the revolutionaries and the extremists. Now, terrorists are clearly evil and they should be dealt with. But this is clearly a case of history repeating itself.  Big bad country taking what they want from the little guys and then the little guys start a vaunted fight for freedom. So, take a look at what we are and take a look at how we came to be. Terrorism was useful in our case, but terrorism in the hands of religious extremists? Not so much.
