The Devil is in the Level.

There are many good reasons to build using level lines, square corners and aesthetically pleasing layouts. But what if we lived in a world where anything goes? If we really had free will to build crooked homes and businesses in any matter that we wanted to. Level and square could still be part of the mix, but what if roof lines were built wobbly and corners were not square and the components of the building made no sense. I know this type of construction is possible and can be done safely with a little imagination, hell to a small degree I find it in most homes constructed today, but I mean do it on a large scale, a whole city with lines going off into many different directions. What if level was considered the Devil? Would a given culture be radically different if all other variables remained the same?
