Why do temperatures of 80 F kill in the UK but not the US?

A heatwave in the UK with temperatures mostly below 90 degrees results in as many as 760 deaths, whereas a heatwave in the US with temps up to 117 degrees resulted in relatively few fatalities. Why is that? Check the article below for the answer:
