We Should Not Glorify War

We Should Not Glorify War

We should not glorify war. War is destructive and harmful to all who participate. What is war? War is mutilation and killing, not only of soldiers, but of innocents. War is a meat grinder. It has no regard for the lives it takes. It destroys bodies and minds.

War shouldn't be entered into unless it is forced upon us.

Revelation 17:6 (New International Version)

I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of Gods holy people, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus.

When I saw her, I was greatly astonished.

Drunk with blood seems to sum this up. Thirst for blood. Thirst for war. Thirst for hate. They're kind of like vampires in a way... or mosquitoes. Blood suckers. These blood suckers profit off the deaths of others. It is in their interest to cause strife and division between people because it increases their power and profit. Now, let's look a moment at who God's holy people are.

Romans 2:28-29 (New International Version)

A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a persons praise is not from other people, but from God.

1 John 4:8 (New International Version)

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Leviticus 19:18 (New International Version)

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

Matthew 5:43-45 (New International Version)

You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

John 14:12-17 (New International Version)

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[a] in you.

John 14:17 Some early manuscripts and is

So, God's holy people are those who value love and truth. They are those who place forgiveness over revenge. They are those who shed light on deceit, injustice, and evil deeds, but pray that those who do evil will have a change of heart rather than seek revenge. It takes more courage to try to forgive someone for a wrong than to pick up a weapon and kill them for their wrong.

There is a difference between hating war and hating those who served. Most who served did so because they wanted to protect our country. Their motives were pure. It was the leaders who practiced the deception. It was the same leaders who stirred the division. So, what are we to do? Kill the leaders? No. We are to pray for them to have a change of heart. It countries where it is possible, we can appeal to them with letters and phone calls. We can write and sign petitions to appeal to their better nature.

When we are directly attacked, it's not wrong to defend ourselves. It's the act of going into their country to seek revenge and to steal resources of which we should be wary.
