Whoops! It Happened Again

About three years ago, I had a CABG triple bypass.  This is not a fun thing to do.  In fact, it hurts like hell and continues to hurt for years.  In March, I had the good fortune to have yet ANOTHER one.

The first operation was less than a success.  The pacemaker they installed had problems and the idiot surgeon forgot to attach one of my arteries.  I could see it spraying like an unmanned water hose when they did a heart catheter.  This left blood spraying all inside my chest cavity, generally gunking things up.  That meant they had to soak the inside of my body with saline for the second operation.  They said that they were surprised that my heart could beat at all there was so much caked on blood.  They called in another surgeon just to deal with the gunk left by the open ended artery while the other surgeon worked on my heart.  This video will show you how much fun they can be.

To get the vessels they needed for the surgery, they had to harvest them from my legs.  The first surgery took blood vessels from my right leg.  This time they had to take blood vessels from both legs.  It feels like the second surgery may have been more successful, but now I have a pacemaker in my chest that isn't working right.  Since my heart isn't ticking too steadily, the pacemaker screwing up is causing me some serious problems.  In fact, I just got out of the hospital again yesterday from a 9 day stay where they examined me and determined that my heart is still too weak for another surgery.

While they didn't have to cut on me this hospital stay, they did jack around with different medications trying to get my heart to beat more steadily.  Even at the end of the stay, my heart rhythm was less than desirable.  What can I say, though?  I was born a poor black child.
