A Senior Vice President of GM calls both of his assistants, Jack and Jill, into his office one afternoon.

"Jack, Jill, I know you guys have been working for me for a long time. You guys have both been great. Unfortunately, due to the current economic crisis, I just received word that one of you will have to be let go. You know we're facing a large number of layoffs, and I have to cut one of your positions. I just don't know who it should be, so I'm going to speak to you each individually. Jack, could you wait outside while I speak to Jill?"

"Yes sir, of course," Jack replied. He left his boss' office and waited out in the hall. About fifteen seconds later, Jill came storming out of his office crying and ran down the hall screaming "No! No!"

Jack stood up, smiled, and shook his boss' hand. "I'm going to make you proud, sir. You made the right choice."

His boss replied, "But that's the thing. I haven't made my choice. I simply told Jill, 'I can't decide whether to lay you or Jack off.'"
