Fans of McDonald’s have begged the chain for years to serve its breakfast menu past 10:30 a.m. McDonald’s has, as of yesterday, finally answered their prayers with the rollout of an all-day breakfast menu . But there’s a huge catch.

Because there is a large handful of McD’s kitchens that aren’t configured the same way, not every item on the menu will be available. One glaring omission is the almighty hash brown.

And unsurprisingly, the people are pissed.

According to former McDonald’s franchise owner, Richard Adams, he says that some locations use the same vats to cook french fries and hash browns in, but they require different cooking settings, which need to be changed after 10:30.

McDonald’s spokesperson Lisa McComb has stated that you shouldn’t completely rule out post 10:30 hash browns. “If a location isn’t able to offer hash browns at this point, that doesn’t mean they never may offer them as more evolving continues to happen. There may be another solution in the future,” she said.

And if you check the All Day Breakfast menu on McDonald’s website, you’ll notice a hash brown chilling towards the bottom of the list.

The controversy doesn’t end with the hash browns, however. Some areas will be serving up the “McMuffin Menu”, while others will be offering the “Biscuit Menu”, which feature different sandwiches.
