Not a good Easter Gift

My friend bribed me to share this and discourage people from buying bunnies as presents for Easter. What can I say, I'm bribe-able with bacon.

1.
That cute little bunny in the cage at the pet shop looks easy, but they live 10-15 years. -
2.
They eat about $30 worth of hay a month + Oxbow pellets (another $15 or so) the cheap stuff is like McDonalds for rabbits- yummy but terrible for them. Litter is expensive (the shavings are bad for them and hurt their lungs) -
3.
They are adorable, have their own personalities, and use litterboxes. But you have to spay/neuter them with an exotic pet vet (even if they are the only rabbit- it's to stop behavior issues and promote longevity) and that is HUNDREDS of dollars -
4.
Did I mention they eat constantly? They love to play and every one is different. Some are shy and don't like to be snuggled, others won't leave you alone -
5.
Some like to go outside, others hate it. Most don't like to be on a leash -
6.
They love chewing wires and cables. Ask any bunny owner what they have lost to the teeth. Some will go for wallpaper, wood moldings, carpet, they have different tastes and you have to give lots of toys to discourage this. -
7.
They do get along with other animals if introduced right -
8.
That cute little bunny turns into a grownup and they kick and nip when unhappy. Do you really want this for your kid? -
9.
If you decide to get one, adopt from a rescue. THey have already been fixed (so you save hundreds) and personality accessed (so if you want a snuggle bunny or a really fun curious rabbit, they will know how to guide you). THey also know if the bunny gets along with other animals or kids. House Rabbit SOcieties or Rescues are THE way to go -
10.
They are funny, cute, adorable, and unique. I love seeing my friend's bunny but she has way too much clean up (cage and litter boxes at least once a day, vacuuming hay, buying litter and other expenses) -
11.
They need room to run and play. You can have a cage as their eating and pooping place but it shouldn't be closed. An x-pen can take up a lot of room but is a good option if you can't let your bun roam free all the time -
12.
They are so curious and if you watchthem, they will show you their personalities and bond with you -
13.
They play games, love attention, and will steal your heart. But they are very fragile and keeping them healthy is a lot of work and money -
14.
Please share this picture with anyone who is thinking about getting a rabbit. My friend promises a lot of bacon for everyone who passes this on and I love bacon -

Her bunny is named Lucy Bunbun the Chewy Furby Bunny. She was rescued from a pet shop- the only bun left. She was nearly snake food when a guy came in to get her but my friend adopted (and had no idea what she was getting into). She said she would do it again but do a lot different. So take the time to do your research before giving your kids or friends live pets for a holiday, okay? Now give me bacon.
