110 Year Old Ghost Ship, Old River Tributary, Ohio - 25 miles downstream of Cincinnati on a tributary of the Ohio River you can find this ship, the Circle Line V. Kolmanskop, Namibia - In the southern area of the coastal African nation of Namibia you will find the Namib desert. A town was built there because diamonds were found in the area and it became a popular spot for diamond miners until the supply of diamonds began to diminish in the 1920s. Patients with smallpox were sent to the island to be quarantined and treated. Eventually the hospital opened its doors to patients with other quarantinable diseases, like leprosy. The hospital closed in the 40s, in the aftermath the island was used as a treatment center for drug addicts, and later as housing for war veterans. -
