1.
Eight years ago, a New Jersey police officer was reassigned to duty in the holding cell area of police headquarters after he was deemed unfit to carry a weapon by a psychiatrist, after his failed suicide attempt. -
2.
Not long after he was assigned to the holding cell, one of the inmates jailed following a domestic dispute with her boyfriend accused the officer of forcing her to perform oral sex on him. -
3.
Having been accused of sexually assaulting a 27 year old woman in a holding cell, the officer remained on a paid leave. He was acquitted in June 2010, and the city settled a civil suit filed by the woman for $710,000 in July 2011. Since then the officer remained on paid leave. -

It turns out the city has paid nearly $800,000 during his eight-year leave and spent about $300,000 on his criminal and civil defense. But that's not enough. The officer received $1.8 million over 8 years and it's clearly not enough for him, because he wants the city to cover his legal defense during the disciplinary process and... pay him the unpaid vacation time he’s due upon retirement. -
5.
That accounts for over 2 million dollars from the tax payer's money, for 8 years of doing nothing, waiting for your sexual assault case to be over. Isn't it nice to be a cop in New Jersey?
