Remember "Risky Business" from 1983 where Tom Cruise turned his parents' house into a brothel? He also had a deal to wear Ray-Bans, rapidly increasing the sales of the model Wayfarer. -
2.
Tom Cruise also had a similar deal in "Top Gun", this time the Ray-Bans were Aviators. -
3.
In "E.T." the characters were supposed to eat the popular M&M's but the company Mars didn't agree. Hershey wasn't so picky, in fact they gave Spielberg 1 million dollars for promotion; it was worth it- their sales increased by 63%. -
4.
It was not the first time Hershey's chocolate was in a movie, in fact Gary Cooper ate said chocolate in 1927; in the movie "Wings". -
5.
Did you know "The Italian Job" from 2003 was a remake of a 1969 movie? Not only that it also was one big commercial for Mini Coopers. -
6.
"Lost in Translation" also from 2003 showed Bill Murray as an actor lost in Japan where he was making a commercial of Suntory Whisky. Funny that Suntory Whisky exists so the movie was also a commercial of the whiskey. -
7.
James Bond had many cars but the creators of 1995 movie "GoldenEye" had a deal with BMW to show how badass BMW are. -
8.
This is not really product placement by itself but an interesting tale of a product from "Back To The Future". In the second part of the trilogy from 1989 Marty had futuristic shoes from 2015. Every young man in the 1989 wanted those shoes and in 2015... someone made such shoes. -
9.
"Transformers 4" was not only filled with explosions but with product placement, people counted 22 cases of Product Placement in the 2014 movie. -
10.
"Wayne's World" has not product placement per se, but a funny scene in which Mike Myers says he won't sell out to sponsors while eating Doritos, drinking Pepsi and more. It was not a commercial of the products but rather a spoof. -
11.
Similar spoof was in "Wrongfully Accused" (1998) where Leslie Nielsen's character did not know what to do until he ate a Mentos. This was a clear spoof of Mentos commercial, but the product was placed in the movie nonetheless.
