I'm really tired of everybody damning this politician, praising that one, calling that one a savior, calling the other the devil. There's something that a lot of people need to realize, THEY"RE ALL FUCKING POLITICIANS! They will tell you what you want to hear, what will make them the most money or what will garner them the position they desire. I'm not talking about a particular democrat or republican, I'm talking about EVERY politician. I'll believe that a politician cares about the economy when they reduce the income of all politicians and pay taxes for the betterment of society.

Honest politics are long dead, if you want to resurrect it, take the profit down to a meager salary of 50,000 yearly and tax it. I guarantee that all of these career politicians will seriously reconsider their life choices, and new politicians who actually give a rats ass about this country will step up and be recognized. Make it a career of passion and not of profit, (or tax free living) and you'll see people who genuinely care about the rights and liberties allowed in this country.

If you believe for one second that anyone in DC gives a rats ass about you, (regardless of your/their political affiliation) then you've got a lot to learn and shouldn't be bantering about you political opinions.

The Mayan calendar is going to end in what we have deciphered is the year 2012 on the 21st day of the 12th month. Of corse all of the little doomsday theorists have there two-bit theories as to what the Mayans were getting at by ending said calendar. Through significant research (to include all the kookie two-bit theories) I found what I believe to be the most credible answere to the question. The calendar isn't actually ending, it's restarting.

Much as the Y2K scare, people are freaking out because this little tid-bit isn't nearly as fascinating as a potential end of our exsistance (and it's less marketable). You see, one of the more fact based and scientifically explanitory diatribes I came upon explained it as such: "The date December 21st, 2012 A.D. (13.0.0.0.0 in the Long Count), represents an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun), what that ancient Maya recognized as the Sacred Tree. This is an event that has been coming to resonance very slowly over thousands and thousands of years."

Think of it as kind of like a new year, except on a much larger scale. "The Tzolkin is a 260-day calendar based around the period of human gestation. It is composed of 20 day-signs, each of which has 13 variations, and was (and still is) used to determine character traits and time harmonics, in a similar way to Western astrology. The Maya also used a 365-day calendar called the Haab, and a Venus calendar, plus others. They measured long time periods by means of a Long Count, in which one 360-day year (a "Tun"), consists of 18 x 20-day "months" ("Uinals"). Twenty of these Tuns is a Katun; 20 Katuns is a Baktun (nearly 400 years); and 13 Baktuns adds up to a "Great Cycle" of 1,872,000 days, ( 5200 Tuns, or about 5125 years)."

Wooo! Furthermore, this same article describes sunspot cycles changing and altering the magnetic field generated by the sun. The result being the earth reacting in a way that some might view as less than positive (earthquakes, floods and such). Which is probably where all these dingleberries get the hair-brained idea that the world is going to end. Still, no comet, no 'planet x', no puffed up science fiction-esqe armageddon. The article sites "Generally speaking, scientifically accepted records of sunspot activity do seem to be heading for a climax in the near future."

I digress, and leave you with something that will probably turn 90% of you against me; with a lack of substantial evidence in the cause of global warming... How about that sun's magnetic field shifting thing?

Religion is on a steady decline, but people need something to believe in, so where does that leave everybody? It seems to me that politics are taking place of religion, and why not? Politics have a belief structure based on what people feel is good and right, the only thing that religion has over it is an omnipotent overseer... and the accountability that comes with it.

This being stated, what does that mean for those who don't handle their beliefs easily. Would it be too much ta say that it may not be too long before a new civil war broke out between the liberals and conservatives? Given the nature of man and the way that we have handled our religion in the past, who's to say that politics wont be handled the same? We already see people getting into fist fights about politics, and others seem to get offended if we don't ingest what we are attempting to cram down their throats.

It would appear that comprimise is out of the question, we either have it our way, or our way. No one is willing to discuss what can be done to please both sides because both sides will never be pleased by comprimise.

In closing, I would like to remind you that I am no fan of cliche, however, it seems noteworthy that Abraham Lincoln was paraphrasing Jesus Christ when he stated, "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

Nothing on this planet makes me laugh harder than an Anarchist. Mostly because the same people who support Anarchy could typically never survive in such an environment. With no laws to protect you, you'd be subjected to raids and violence. Perhaps we should give the anarchists a taste of what they want, put them in a little commune with no laws or regulatory system. I'll bet anything that after the first raid whoever is left alive will come out screaming about how much they love the american justice system. After only a few moments, a few unsavory individuals would catch wind of a place that has food and supplies and has no laws to protect them. Best of all, they're mostly a bunch of spindly legged dorks who, in all likelyhood, could hardly defend themselves. I hope one day these fools get their wish, so they can truely understand just what it means to be without laws or protection.

I meant to write this blog on MLK day, however, I was busy and I kept putting it off.

Dr. King's famous speech states that his dream was that the words in the constitution would ring true, that all me would be treated as equals. So, the question needs to be asked, why the hell is there such a thing as 'Affirmative Action'. Why is there such a thing as a hate crime (in any capacity).

A job should go to those with the most qualifications and skills, they should not be decided by the color of a man's skin.

Hate is the basis for many crimes, racially motivated crimes are no more hate crimes than when a man who hates the government defaces city hall.

I have to wonder just what Dr. king would say if he were still here today, I honestly think it would be something along the lines of, "This isn't quite what I was talking about."

In the words of Maynard Keenan, life feeds on life. Plants are living organisms just as much as animals, according to common belief, niether have a soul, but both have a spirit. If you take a plant from the earth and consume it, your just as much a murderer as one who consumes the flesh of an animal. Vegans just try to justify the taking of plant life by stating that is is without consciousness. Yet, would you pull the plug on a person who is totally brain-dead? Vegitarians live on this double standard. Humans are takers of life, the size of the life is suplimental.
I fancy myself something of a beer connoisseur, and Im of the mind that the word Ale means Stronger than beer. If you ask me, Red Hook's ESB is about as light in flavor as I really care to go (If you're wondering, Arrogant Bastard Ale by the folks at Stone Brewery is my favorite). So when I saw Budweiser's American Ale on the rack tonight, I thought, "Aw hell, I'll give it a shot." Being a man who doesn't like Budweiser's other products, I felt it was only fair to give them a chance to redeem themselves.

I cracked open a bottle and smelled of it first, the fragrance was less than promising. I took a large pull from the bottle and did what I always do when trying a new brew, a few light swishes then swallowed it down. What did I experience? Not anything worth raving about, not in the positive sense at least. A boring, flavorless and lacking in any of the qualities befitting of the term "Ale". Basically, it's just a bit stronger than the classic Budweiser, it delivers only on one expectation... My distaste for boring beer. So, if you are as I am, and enjoy ALE, spend those hard earned dollars on something worth while. If however, you're a Bud enthusiast and you're feeling "adventurous", then feel free to try it with no worry about wether or not your girlish palet will be spoiled. No offense.

Allow me to start out by saying that this is not a nudge at Obama. I am a republican, however, unlike all the Bush bashers, I have class and respect for the presidents of the USA.

If you were to enter a bar and ask the bar keeper for a whiskey, he would probably open a bottle pour it, and hand it over. But when you stop him and say, "Wait, I wanted you to add a dash of bitters, some sweet and dry vermouth and a couple of cherries too."

He'd shake his head and say, "Then why didn't you order a Manhattan?"

I digress, if I became president, people wouldn't say I was the first Mexican to become president (I'm about 1/4 Mexican). So in closing, I would like to congratulate the first BIRACIAL president, Barak Obama.

Someone please tell me that I'm not the only human being in the world who doesn't care what celebrities name their children. Why should I care about some movie star's marriage and why it went sour? Furthermore do I really need an update when some famous girl gains ten pounds?

My point is, movie stars are being touted more and more as extra-ordinary people, and why? The do a very easy job and get paid what it takes me three years to make in the span of a few months. Not so long ago somebody said, "People used to be famous for being special, now people are special for being famous." Forgive me for not knowing who said it. The fact of the matter is, movie stars are just average people who we've over-hyped. People can't wait to hear the latest dirt on somebody that they will most likely never meet. Even if a person does have a chance encounter with their favorite actor I highly doubt that they would appreciate any mentionings of their personal lives.

I'll leave it at this, one should never worry so much about a person who will only have an effect on our lives for no more than the length of a film. There is a grand life happening all about you even as you read this, and you're too obsessed with some Hollywood type's drug problem to observe it.

We hear it all the time, yet for some reason when I hear it it makes my ears burn, and I think I know why. First allow me to say that the pronuciation means nothing to me, reguardless of it ending with an A, ER, or UH, it's still the same word. The reason I am so bothered by it is because people throw it around now a days as though it just means "buddy" or "dude", but that fails to change the origin of the word. It still means to me what it meant when it was first spoken.

That being stated, the political side of this word is even more irritating than it's use. "That's our word! You white boys can't say it!" Implies that somebody has more of a right to free speach than someone else. I find this unacceptable, I don't believe that the "n-bomb" has a place in modern society for this major reason.

The word is used openly throughout our society, white people hear it, and as children hear it spoken so freely, they don't believe it to be a bad word. So in reality, what we have here is a case of shooting ourselves in the foot. Little white children hearing it and thinking, "That must not be a bad word, that person just said it about three times in the same sentance."

The word was created with a bigoted agenda in mind, and to me that's how it will always be, if you wish to erase the hatered of this word from the American memory, the first step is to stop using it all together.

Recently here on ebaum's world, someone posted a video of a man being struck down by a vehicle as he crossed the street. No one called for help, indeed this was shocking for most of us. However, equally shocking, I feel, was the incredibly bigoted statements made by some of the non-American ebaums users. Making broad generalizations of the American people, how we are all inconsiderate, how these people behaved as "typical" Americans. We, as a whole nation were just "you peopled" by these comments. Some even went so far as to say that they hate Americans, blatant in their prejudice.

I disapprove of an and all racism, and bigotry (save for those who are bigoted against hate groups, it's kind of a catch 22) this completely uncivilized behavior is unacceptable in any capacity. I made the statement in one of my replies that if this is indeed how you fell, you may as well begin wearing white sheets and burning crosses in people's lawns, as you are no better than the KKK.

I stand by my country, and everyone who doesn't appreciate what America has done for the world had better take a closer look at the lives they lead and realize that most everything they have wouldn't be there today had it not been for America. We harnessed electricity, we created most of the things that keep the modern world moving, from the telephone to the internet, from the radio to the television, from the combustion engine to the space shuttle. Just on a small scale, how many jars of peanut butter do you have in your home? America has earned it's respect, whether by fighting for it, or thinking for it.

I hope that those of you outsiders feel the shame of your bigotry, in my eyes you've proven yourselves to be hate filled bastards, hypocrites, and the very lowest form of filth. Before you judge my people, my flag, my nation, and myself, you should think about what your lives would be without the great nation of America.

From time to time I observe the interesting take that some people have on art, sometimes I see incredible talent on display. Then, there's modern art... Mind you, I don't mean works of talent that actually require a degree of focus and skill, I'm talking about the Pollock-esqe modern art. Splatters, splashes, streaks, and smudges... WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD EVER CALL THIS ART!

There's a little saying that I picked up from Type O Negative, (the band) "Never mistake lack of talent for genious." never has such a statement rang so true, I have seen people who can draw images that look as though they may begin to stand and walk off. I've seen sculptures and statues that are undeniably amazing. I see these same works ignored for the likes of some travesty on canvas. Something that resembles an uninvited stain on a pair of underpants. People have often said that the greatest thing about art is that there is no status quo, but I believe that this will ultimately be REAL art's demise.

There are famous paintings that are nothing more than a single color covering an entire canvas, there are some that are nothing more than lines, stacks of clay or metal thrown together haphazardly, and let us not forget the greatest hack that ever lived, Jackson Pollock. These people are not artests of the paint and brush, or the stone and chisle, they are SCAM artists. Fooling people into believing that there is something in the nothingness they have created. That there is emotion in the mess they have made. The only feeling one should get when looking upon these abominations is the feeling of disgust that someone who has less talent than a child somehow managed to make a ghastly amount of money by ruining a canvas.

The more crap I hear from the far left wingers about how guns are bad, the more I wonder what world they live in where they have never had to call the police for something. Simply put, when seconds count, the police are minutes away. I hate using cliche, but that's the best way to sum it up. It's YOUR duty to take care of you and yours. If you are the victim of a home invasion, in the time it takes for the police to arrive, something terrible could happen to you and/or your family.

Furthermore, where do you get off impeding my natural rights? (And if you don't know what natural rights are, you might as well just stop voting, grow fur and start mooing like the mindless cattle you are.) If you want to take my property away, you're going to have a hell of a time doing it. My guns give me the means to gain food, provide recreational perposes and give me a safe and comfortable feeling.

Speaking of stripping americans of their firearms, taking the guns away from those who keep and bear them lawfully will do no good. Why, you ask? It's called the black market, genious, and it's been working for the bad guys who keep and bear arms UNLAWFULLY for some time. Do you think that taking the guns out of the registered owners hands are going to stop the criminal elemet from gaining them? Again, I ask what world do you live in? The other black market issue would be that those individuals who want to protect themselves from the evils of man would go purchase their guns unlawfully, and guess who gets caught with the gun. Not the bad guy, because he's been practicing hiding his for years, but the average citizen who only wanted whats best for his family. Now we're talking about putting good and decent americans behind bars for something less that necessary.

"But guns kill people!" No they don't, Jackass. Firearms are objects, objects require outside manipulation in order to achieve proformance. In short, you're shifting blame to the object instead of the human. A human pulls the trigger, no gun ever got up on it's own and killed somebody for any reason. Point your finger where it belongs, we put people on trial for murder, not the implements they utilized.

"What if your child gets a hold of your gun?" It's called a gunsafe, moron. All of my weapons are kept under lock and key. The way it should be. My kids will never touch my guns until they are mature enough to, period. They will never have access to the key or know the combination to the safe.

If you want to effect positive change in the realm of guns, how about this, require a safety class for anyone interested in purchasing a firearm. As a well trained owner, I would actually like to see that.
