I used to go to school with a very average girl in almost every way. I always admired her, no matter what she would try to keep up with the smarter, more pretty girls. She was a fighter, she just assumed society was going to give her a fair shake. For some reason her parents had failed her, and not explained that no matter how hard you work at something; the "average" person will be overcome by someone who isn't just "average".


Having spent most of my youth in the same schools as Tenacious Jane, I watched her dreams grow, and take root. I never dated Jane, but I did seek her out for advice. Sometimes my girlfriends would let her come along since she was so "threat free". Jane was always there for all of us, but almost never had a reason to be happy herself.Jane never cracked, she just kept trying to move forward. We would all try and make a big deal of petty victories for Jane, but deep down it felt hollow.


 Eventually we went our separate ways, but in all of my ventures I always tried to emulate Jane and not worry about bad odds or genetics.


Long story short I ran into her last week. She's a fuckin teacher, so much for the timid overcoming the more attractive and skilled. If you are in the lucky sperm club, enjoy that shit, because the average people and teachers were trying our best and you still won.
