My brother posted a link on face book, so I followed it, and I found an interesting story.

Marine Staff Sergeant Jason Rogers was killed in Afghanistan on April 7th.  He was buried in Brandon, MS on April 14th.  It seems the entire city came out to pay their last respects, and apparently, so did the Westboro Dick-Head Church.  This is copied from the link:

A few days before, one of them (westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed.  Police were called out and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him.  When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly.  There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about, and at great expense to the county.

Not long ago it was mentioned that we needed another flash fiction from MjrF, and a tag team story.  MjrF did the flash fiction, so now here is the tag team story.  As with the last one, this is another story I used to tell in Iraq, but I'm stopping after the first paragraph and passing the baton.  Here we go.

No shit, there I was: On patrol in Iraq in an up-armored truck near the outskirts of Kirkuk.  That's when it happened.  Suddenly, we hit an IED and began taking small arms fire!  That's when my training kicked in and I went on auto-pilot.  Thinking quickly, I grabbed the aid bag from the medic and gave myself seven doses of morphine.  It didn't do much to help the situation, but after that I ddin't really give a shit.

That's when I saw....

Dangle:  Tag, you're it.  Copy and paste this into a new blog, add a couple paragraphs and then tag someone else to add to it.

Rules:  No one can add to the story until they are tagged.
There must be at least three co ... Read more ...

Tomorrow morning I will be going out to the field to evaluate squads conducting practice missions, and won't be back until Thursday night or Friday morning.  Originally there was rain in the forecast, but not anymore.  No rain for us.  Now the forecast is for snow.  3 to 6 inches expected over the next 36 hours.  Indeed, it is snowing here in Kansas as I type this.  Looks like we already have 2 inches, and it's still coming down.  Kiss my ass mother nature.

I wish I could call in sick.  FML.

You vile bastards.  You inconceivably appalling interlopers.  You who pour salt in open wounds, who spit in the faces of the very people who will fight to the death to defend your freedom of speech.

Will you stop at nothing?  Is there anything that can be said to make you cease this injustice?  You have slapped the face of every Soldier, Sailor, Marine and Airman killed in action.  And you have slapped the faces of their grieving families too; their spouses, parents, children.  You have violated one of the most private, most intimate moments a grieving family shares.

And the most disgusting part is you do it in the name of God.

You say IEDs are God's punishment for tolerance of homosexuality.  You say God hates fags.  Does God really hate the sinner, or does he just hate the sin?  Do you presume to know the mind of God?  Shame on you.

I hear murmurs.  Nay, shouts, calling for your deaths so that your funerals can be attended b ... Read more ...

I haven't blogged in a long time, but I think I want to get back into it.

I've been back from Korea for a couple months now and have been spending more of my free time with my wife and kids.  In Korea it was easy to spend hours on the internet because I was there by myself and I didn't have a TV.  Well, actually I did have a TV provided with my apartment, but I couldn't understand any of it, so I unplugged it and used it as a foot stool.  It was the perfect height.

So now what?  I'm still chewing on the idea of retiring but I can't seem to make up my mind.  After six deployments my 20 year mark is looking pretty good, but with the economy the way it is I might stay a in little longer.  It would be easy to get a civilian job If I were planning to stay here in Kansas, but I want to go back home to Texas when I retire.  That makes it a little harder to plan; I'd be looking for a job AND a house at the same time.

Next week I have to go to the field and evaluate squads doing mi ... Read more ...
