No this is not a political blog but instead a brief cheer fest for a book I just finished reading. The folks who know me here know  I'm a voracious reader and will try to share the jewels that I find, and this is one of them.

The book is titled American Gods   By Author Neil Gaiman and I came upon it quite by accident when I was cruising Amazon for cheap books for the kindle , now some of you may already be familiar with Mr Gaiman he is a world renowned author, poet, comic book publisher (Sandman series) poet etc etc.

Now I'm not saying I've never read anything of his because I have and didn't really care for it, but for 99 cents and receiving an 800 page novel I decided to give  it a try...... that was 2 days ago.

Needless to say I could not put the book down and was completely blown away by his writing style, the intricate story line and the descriptive asides and sub plots that all came to an astonishing finish!

Was this an easy book to read? Absolut ... Read more ...

Hello all and Seasons greetings, I decided to throw out a flash fiction utilizing an (obvious) Christmas theme, but I would ask that you do not take the easy road with this one and instead put some thought and effort into is ( the logical line ups for the words are pretty simple( I also threw a little wrench in this one and provided a scenario that the words should be used in.

For those of you who don't know a flash fiction is a short story (usually < 1000 words) that incorporates the keywords provided ny me.

It is a fun and interesting way to stretch your writing muscles.

Ready? Here we go!

Keywords:

CHRISTMAS PRESENT,  JOYOUS,  SAVIOR. ORNAMENTAL

Now for the scenario:

Your flash fiction should take place in or include  a dairy farm (can't make this too easy)

Hope to see some great stories!

Hi All!

Just wanted to take a quick minute and wish everyone here on EBW a Merry Christmas and a Happy Everything else!

I can see things are getting a little tense around here lately and I just wanted all of us to please take a stepback and reflect on the good in your life instead of trying to find and or inflict the negative.

Look I know I'm not your Mom or Dad or conscience or anything but I really feel that this time of year is the time for the positive! Goodwill to all etc.

Anywho, Merry Happy to everyone and please enjoy and make the most of this special time of the year!

I haven't blogged in a while cuz I've been really busy but I thought I  would drop some thoughts.

I just gave What's her name a ring after 9 years together.... It payed off in wild barnyard sex that hasn't been seen since  the early days.

I am a middle manager who is a direct report to 4 senior managers who all cannot stand each other.... it makes for some VERY awkward and intense moments when trying to determine the course for our unit or even day to day operations.

My mom passed about 3 months ago...... It really sucked, if you are estranged from your parents no matter what the reason try to re-connect it will be worth it.

I'm famous (sort of)  a review I posted on Amazon is now part of the book's reviews in the printed version.

My car is a 5 speed which is really fun to drive until stuck in horrible Miami traffic.

After being in Miami for about 2 months, when I returned home, I found myself still using the same aggressive driving style, to t ... Read more ...

I recently have been working in S Florida in and around Ft Lauderdale , an area while beautiful and with lots of money chasing itself around also has an unusually high number of homeless and, of course a pretty damned high (to my standards) level of crime. So why am I writing this? Well let me start at the beginning.

I had just arrived a day later than planned at the hotel that I had reserved and what do I find out front but about 5 police cars and a CSI unit. Well I didn't even know if it was OK to even go in, maybe they had gotten robbed or something crazy had happened. After a 6 hour drive I was ready for some rest and didn't feel like cooling my heels out front any longer so I went inside said what the hell  is going on a which got no response (I didn't really expect one),. I checked in and expressed my disappointment about not getting the same room I had been staying in (I'm a creature of habit). I grudgingly accepted the room across the hall from my usual and made my way to the elevator and u ... Read more ...
