Okay, no it doesn't.  Actually there's a new game that allows women to murder men, all to feminist applause.

There was a time that feminists criticized popular culture for promoting gender stereotypes, for depicting women in roles that suggested a narrow view of their legitimate endeavors.  Betty Friedan did it, and she had a point.  Why were women in magazines like McCall's and Redbook depicted as happy as wives and mothers but sad and unfulfilled when they pursued careers?  Didn't that send an unabiguous message to women that was subversive of their real and legitimate goals?  OF COURSE IT DID!  Friedan (and countless others) were right to criticize those and other portrayals of women in popular culture.

But when feminists started producing their own popular culture (well, "popular" might not be really accurate), they suddenly dropped any notion that they should circumscribe their often intensely misandric prose.  If any feminist ever suggested that maybe such people like ... Read more ...

While atheists are quite understandably relucant to embrace "their" responsiblity for the mass murders committed by their brethren, what they consistently fail to understand is that pinning the responsibility on the atheistic murderer is not about implying that the average atheist today is inclined to commit mass murder, but rather demonstrating the complete absudity of the often made case that historical crimes committed by those of vaguely similar beliefs somehow justify advocating legal or social restrictions on individuals who have not committed any such crimes.

Atheists aren't the only ones guilty of such guilt associations.  Medieval Christians certainly did so, and some of the more foolish Jews do the same thing today, forgetting that if it is right to judge today's Christians for the historical crimes of medieval Christians who persecuted Jews, then those medieval Christians were entirely justified in persecuting medieval Jews for the crimes of anceint Jews who persecuted Christians.  Respon ... With an air of wonder, POLITICO.com reported yesterday that Sharron Angle, facing Senate majority leader Harry Reid in the upcoming fall elections, "has previously made eyebrow-raising statements about withdrawing the U.S. from the United Nations, eliminating the departments of Energy and Education, and privatizing Social Security."

Eyebrow-raising?

As in "who could possibly stand for such things"?

Outside of Washington (and even in pockets within it), there actually are people who believe that American taxpayers should not be paying for the play things of such human-rights respecting exemplars as Cuba, China, Russia, and their ilk, all of whom sit on the United Nations Human Rights Council.

And, for some reason, we actually did have both energy and education in this country before the Departments of Energy and Education were created, hard as that is for some people to believe.

We also had things like art, philosophy, and radio before the National Endowment for the Arts, ... Read more ...

While channel surfing once, a few years ago, I actually clicked on Sex and the City and watched a few minutes.  At that point, I found myself weighing the relative merits of 1.) continuing to watch Sex and the City or 2.) having my body ripped to shreds by rabid wolves.  I turned off the TV and went outside in search of the wovles.

Given that experience, I guess I won't be taking in the new movie, Sex and the City 2.  This review (http://www.hollywood.com/news/Sexism_and_the_City/6875338) does nothing to encourage me to change my mind.  The reviewer seems to think that the movie is every bit as awful as I imagine it is.

But the reason for my bringing this up is that the reviewer is surprisingly frank about anti-male sexism, both in the movie and in his everyday life as a movie reviewer.  He's so frank about it that he actually uses the word "misandry" in his piece.  (My Spellcheck still doesn't recognize the word; neither does my online dictionary.)  It's nice to se ...
