As the results of the 2008 United State's Federal Election rolled in on Tuesday evening, unlike many people, both in the USA and here in Canada, I couldn't feel a sense of optimism. In fact, I feel very nervous about what will happen during Obama's tenure in the white house. At 47 years of age, he is a relatively young and inexperienced politician, definitely not a good thing considering the economic crisis that the United States, and even to a degree, Canada is in at this point in time. Obama promised change, yet he never went into too much detail on what change he would make, or how he would accomplish it. That is a major concern for me, as it seems the American citizens voted him into office because of his charisma as a public speaker, and that fact that he is an African American. There is nothing wrong with that, but I do believe it played a key part in him winning the election. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, he is at a greater risk of being assassinated, due to extremist groups, in fact, bef ... Read more ...
SO GET OFF YOUR ASS!! climate change...crashing economy....energy crisis...wars...disgraced society. The next 20-40 years are going to be a huge upheaval in history. The last few generations have really skrewed things over, because of the convienience of fossil fuels, of vegging out on your couch to numb out the fact that million of people in poverty is dying, and so many other things. Now we, the next generation will have to deal and try to fix. Ya sure we can say its nothing really important, we see the news continue to get worse but we just shrug it off and get back to our "important lives" So many people who graduate from high school just float along getting minimum wage jobs thinking that theyre life will be granted to them. how does society even run on this? never mind fixing some of the most pressing problems of mankind. People think. ohh, school is stupid and pointless and im just going to graduate, who really cares anyway? people have so much potential and they waste it all, you dont necessarily n ... Read more ...
Okay, so we all know black holes are theoretical, and only observed by the amount of interference it causes in relation to its nearest star systems. Nobody has ever seen one, and no pictures have ever been recorded. They're existence is based on a guess. Lets cover a couple of things here. A star by the name of Epsilon Aurigae has what appears to be "an invisible partner" which shares its common center of gravity. (the star systems center e.g. the sun) Epsilon Aurigae, during certain points of its view from earth, becomes faded. This was scientists first clue to the existence of black holes. Scientists explain how a star, after billions of years, exausts its nuclear resources and implodes violently on itself, after it begins to cool. Our sun is estimated to do this in another 8 billion years or so. When it does this, it will join a group of planetary entities known as "white dwarfs". Now a white dwarf has the potential of becoming a black hole, depending on its size. If it squeezes too tightly, the core wi ... Read more ...
There are several different forms of pain, right? Some people consider physical pain to be less painful then emotional pain, some don't. A lot of people will ask why they have to feel pain. Pain can be bestowed because you have done something wrong, you have taken physical damage...anything. Everyone can be hurt by anything, no matter how good or harmless it may be. Nothing is spared, right? Pain isn't always bad, though. Sometimes, you feel pain to protect yourself, or to protect others. The reason why I'm writing a, i have to say, poorly kept together article about pain is because i want to ask, what everyone considers as real pain. To me, i believe that emotional pain can destroy you in every single way, because your mind controls you, and without any control, you would go insane. You can take immense/incredible physical pain but still thrive to live on, to keep going, but if you get hit in the right way emotionally, your life can go straight to hell. I would rather it, though. I think that Emotional pa ... Read more ...
