This is a response to Churchburners blog, "God was Testing Me."  He brought up so many topics that it was impossible to address them in the comments section.

"Christians are living in fear of an evil, jealous, vengeful god." First of all as a self-proclaimed atheist you must define what is evil and you should identify a condition for which you can recognize it.  If you are truly an atheist then you must have a standard to which you recognize as what is evil and what is not.  Without a standard (and it has to be something other than your own opinion of what is moral or immoral) then you really cannot say what is and is not evil.  If you cannot truly say what is and is not evil, then you cannot accuse God of being evil.  Jealous: God is not jealous in the sense that He covets something that does not already belong to Him.  Unlike humans who are jealous for things they want from others (money, possessions, ... There has been a lot of hoopla surrounding the immigration bill that is about to become law here in Arizona and much of what I have read and heard on the news is wild speculation and unfounded scare tactics.  I admit there are some legitimate fears by some, who have weighed in on this new bill, but media hype, scare tactics from opponents and the uninformed bring on most of it.

I have been a police officer here in Arizona for the last twelve years and through the course of my career I have dealt with illegal aliens on many occasions.  Some of them were uneventful, but unfortunately many of them were involving crimes or other circumstances, which drew the unwanted attention of the police.  With that being said I felt compelled to try and give a perspective that many police officers here in Arizona share.

This new bill will lead to profiling.  Really? < ... Read more ...

I want to try and educate some people out there who seem to think they know a little something about the US, the Constitution and the general mentality of US citizens.  You see it really bothers me and sometimes I get down angry when I see individuals spout off about the US and many of the issues pertaining to this country.  There are numerous opinions and ignorant comments being thrown around by people who do not know what they are talking about.

One point I want to address is for those people who think the US is nothing but a bunch of greedy war mongering imperialistic mindless thugs.  That could not be furthest from the truth.  You see people who have that opinion of our country are usually close minded arrogant self righteous know it alls.  Not everyone, but many of them are, and the biggest disappointment of all is the fact that a large number of these people are citizens of the US.  The problem is ... Dear Little Ignorant Canuck,

I read your blog the other day and I tried to ignore it.  I really did, but something about the content and the complete lack of intelligence forced me to temporarily come back to the blogosphere and write a reply.  I wanted to keep my reply short and sweet, but after reading through your delightful rant numerous times I found myself looking for an ice pick ready to ram it through my thick greedy American skull.  You see I have this condition that no amount of health insurance can cure.  You see, when I see or hear something that I find to be completely ludicrous or if I read material submitted by an individual who knows nothing about anything, I have this overwhelming desire to end my life with an ice pick.  Lucky for me I live in Arizona and there are not too many ice picks around.  But, I digress.

Anyway my na ... Read more ...

Recently there was a religious discussion and the topic of literal belief in the Bible was discussed.  I stated I believe the Bible to be the absolute truth and when questioned about the great flood, I stated I believed that as well.  After making my proclamation the question of my intelligence and logic or lack of was mentioned.  Not a problem.  I do believe the great flood occurred, I believe people in the old Testament lived for hundreds of years, I believe that Jesus existed and I believe many other difficult and hard to believe things about the Bible.

Before we get into the discussion of the Bible and its content, I must first talk about God.  I am not here to debate His existence at this time; I am merely going to offer answer as to who or what He is.  Without having a basic understanding of God, it can be difficult to understand the Bible.

The Bible teaches that in all eternity ... Read more ...
