Anyone here from Australia? Or, has anyone ever been there? My wife and I just got back from there last week. I didn't realize it before but it has a sub-tropical climate. I guess I never paid much attention to its latitude. So, if you go there take your hat and sunscreen. They're going into the fall season so we missed the really hot weather. Oh yeah, and don't forget your atm card because it is very expensive.

The plane ride is very long. It took over 22 hours to get from Frankfurt, Germany to Sydney via Singapore. That includes about an hour layover in Singapore.

We actually spent most of our time in Queensland, which is north of New South Wales, visiting a friend. While there we visited Fraser Island (Google some pictures, it's amazing), the largest sand island in the world. There's a rock formation at the north end which captures the sand carried by the ocean current. The island is about 127 km long and about 20 km wide. It has freshwater springs, a freshwater lake, a rainforest, and all ... Read more ...

I have to respond to Wallboy's blog about KSM. First off, the decision to "prosecute" KSM and his cohorts in civilian court instead of military tribunal has more to do with putting The U.S. (specifically the Bush administration) on trial than it does with "bringing them to justice". Obama has said that this was the decision of Holder and he will not interfere. Of course not, he's already gone on record saying he'd rather look forward instead of at the past. Make no mistake, Obama wants this trial. Trying these men in civilian court where they have miranda rights is complete fallacy. They are NOT citizens. They were captured in the theatre of war. They commited acts of WAR against the U.S. A lot of the evidence we have against them will likely be thrown out. Not to mention, we'll have to compromise identities of intelligence personnel as well as ways and means of collecting intel. They'll probably be convicted but not without damaging both the reputation of the U.S. and our intelligence gathering capabiliti ... Read more ...

Mr. Gore just released his new book Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis on November 3rd and there are already used copies available on Amazon. Must be a real jewel.

I guess he wasn't content with the money he made with his inconvenient movie. After all, it's expensive to fly in a private jet and burn the lights in a giant house.

I'm not arguing for or against the global warming scare. Ooh that sentence will get under tomlet's skin. I'm arguing that Gore is a hypocritical douche bag, like most tree huggers. The difference is, he's found a way to make millions of dollars from his douchitude. So I guess maybe he should be congratulated.

So, is anyone planning on reading Sarah Palin's biography? It has already out sold Dan Brown's new book and the book about that dead guy. What was his name? Kennedy, something Kennedy. Ted, yeah that's it.

I think the best part about the success of her book is how the fringe lefties are going crazy. How can this happen? How could a book about Sarah Palin sell so many copies before it's even released? I love it.

It seems people either love her or hate her with little middle ground. I for one say congratulations, Sarah!

And by the way, why are the lefties so terrified of Sarah? You can't tell me they're not because if that was true they wouldn't take every opportunity to bash her. If she was truly insignificant they would let her slide off into obscurity.

Most people agree that some form of health care reform is needed, myself included. After that, ideas diverge and agreements cease.

One aspect of the proposed reform is the requirement for every person to carry health insurance which would effect two groups, the ones who don't want it and the ones who can't afford it. Those who don't want it would have to deal with getting fined if they still refuse. For the group who can't afford it there is the so called "public option".

The public option would allow the government to provide a cheaper alternative to private companies. Of course, that would eventually lead to the end of private companies because there is no way they could compete with the government. Something about needing to make a profit while the government can run a program at deficit indefinitely. I get confused with all the complicated concepts but I think that's how it goes.

Another idea Obama is pushing is coverage regardless of pre-existing conditions. That sounds great, on ... Read more ...
