When I first saw this story being reported on CNN.com the headline read something along the lines of "Black Harvard Professor arrested for breaking in own home", I thought to myself 'hmm this should be funny'.
In case you didnt see it the story went something like this - Black harvard professor loses his keys one night and instead of calling a lock smith decides he should 'break-in' to his own home, someone down the street calls the cops and says she believed there were two black men with back packs breaking in to this house. Cops come to the house identify themselves as the police and say that they received a call from a neighbor in regards to a break in. The professor says its his house and the cops ask for him to come to the door and show ID and they would be on their way. harvard professor gets really worked up and pissy and says " WHY BECAUSE I AM A BLACK MAN IN AMERICA?!" arguing ensues and the black professor gets arrested for disorderly conduct... probably for swearing at the officers and refusing to show his ID.
OK so some detail may be lost in the summerization but the jist is there.
And I have to say I AM ANGRY.
the cops had a perfect opportunity to taser this guy
actually I am glad they didnt, because their lives would have been ruined over this professors insinuation that the reasons the cops showed up at his door was racially motivated. btw if you see pictures of the arrest there is a black officer there. anywho, crying out 'race' to cause attention to a situation that was never there was extremely aggravating, I wonder what motivated him to cry out "race"..was it from years of struggle brought on by "THE MAN" or was it from the whole slavery thing.
In my head this all could have been avoided if this idiot just came to the door, explained to the cops what had happened and showed them proof that he lived there. obviously the cops are going to ask for proof. they arent just going to believe anyone that says they live in the house that was just reported as being broken into and leave.
The Professor should have played ball with the cops, because anyone would have had to. any honky, spook, gook, or spic would have had to shown their ID and explain to the cops that they live there.
and now im seeing blogs and commentary from other prominent blacks saying how despicable it is to treat a scholar such as this professor in such a manner. FUCK THAT SHIT. its called equality mother fuckers, no matter the race, creed, or status, cops would have handled the situation the same way. If i refused to prove i lived in a house that was reportedly being broken into, and i was swearing at the cops, I too would have been arrested, but the charges wouldnt have been dropped so easily.
The only one who handled it poorly was the professor, he took it as an attack on his race when it was nothing more than a check up on a call. you get no pity from me you opportunist fuck, If i was in harvard I would drop out of your class for trying to cash in on your color to get your face into this years civil liberty calendar, taking civil rights two steps back.
This probably doesnt make much sence anymore, but i dont care.
